Marcos Jr. not keen on floated term-sharing with Sara Duterte

Former senator and presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he is not keen on term-sharing for presidency with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in Eleksyon 2022.

According to Ian Cruz’s “24 Oras” report on Friday, Marcos said he was not in favor of the proposed term-sharing which was broached by Quezon province governor Danilo Suarez.

Marcos was quoted in the report as saying that such arrangement will not do the country good.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday said it has issued summons in connection with petitions to cancel Marcos’ certificate of candidacy (COC) for president in the 2022 elections.

“The lawyers will attend to the case, whatever case they will bring and now I will continue with I suppose you can call it a campaign. I will continue with my campaign,” Marcos said in response.

During his visit in Taal, Batangas, Marcos led the oath taking of the new members of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party he heads.

Last week, various organizations, mostly victims of human rights violations during martial law, filed a petition seeking to void Marcos’ COC due to his July 27, 1995 conviction for failing to file income tax returns several times from 1982 to 1985.

Following this, at least 10 more individuals lodged a similar petition before the poll body.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said upon receipt of the summons, Marcos will have five days to file a response.
