Philippines logs 3,410 new COVID-19 cases; active cases at 45,233

The Department of Health on Sunday reported 3,410 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the Philippines’ total caseload to 2,787,276, as four laboratories failed to submit data on time.

According to the DOH, the new cases brought the country’s active case count to 45,233, of which 73.6% were mild, 4.9% were asymptomatic, 6.8% were severe, and 2.9% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed to 2,698,871 after 5,825 more patients defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll rose to 43,172 with 128 new fatalities.

The DOH said 30 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 91 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Data from the DOH also showed that 46% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 32% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 39% of the ICU beds are in use, while 30% of the ventilators are utilized. — DVM, GMA News
