More than 90% of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with their active cases down to 319 as of Sunday.

In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Roderick Augustus Alba said that their data for October showed active cases had reached an average of 3,000.

On October 1, the PNP logged 2,023 active cases out of 39,967 total cases.

“Even our chief PNP is a believer of vaccines. Kaya nga talagang pinu-push niya rin dahil sa kanya, and of course for the fact of leadership, ito ay isang primary proteksyon talaga natin against the COVID-19 along with the observance of the minimum public health standards,” he said.

(Our chief PNP is a believer in vaccines. That is why he is pushing for the vaccination because he believes that this is our primary protection against COVID-19, along with the observance of the minimum public health standards.)

When asked if the PNP was targeting to vaccinate 100% of its staff by end of the year, Alba admitted that they could not ensure that as of the moment as other factors needed to be considered, such as pregnant and breastfeeding policewomen and those with comorbidities.

“We have to give them due consideration. What we are targeting here is ‘yung wala talagang valid na rason. We are still at 2,330 in our data and probably sila yung… of the whole community who are non-believers of vaccines,” Alba added.

(What we are targeting here are those who have no valid reason not to get vaccinated. Our data shows that we’re still at 2,330 and they are probably those who are non-believers ib vaccines.)

Alba also asked the help of the media to disseminate accurate information on the government’s vaccination program to encourage everyone to get inoculated.

As of Sunday morning, the PNP recorded a total of 42,017 COVID-19 cases, with 41,575 already recovered. There were 123 total deaths with no deaths reported on Sunday. — DVM, GMA News
