The Bureau of Immigration said Sunday that general travel restrictions on foreigners entering the Philippines still stay despite government’s decision to relax the quarantine period for returning OFWs, balikbayans, foreign students, and workers.
“Sa ngayon, meron pang (there is an) ongoing general travel restrictions,” Sandoval said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, when pressed on fears undesirable aliens might take advantage of the shortened quarantine period.
“Sa ngayon, ang pinapayagan na pumasok ay mga (those allowed entry are) Filipino citizens, balikbayans — foreigners, Filipino spouses, children that are traveling with them,” she said.
Also allowed are foreign immigrants, those with working visa, student visa, and the retired ones, she added.
She noted that at present — may be due the COVID-19 pandemic — cases of undesirable aliens coming into the country are very few.
Likewise, she said that foreign tourists are not yet allowed entry to the Philippines, and those coming from “red list” countries as stated under the IATF Resolution 142 that was approved on October 7, 2021 and took effect the following day.
Under the IATF resolution, “Fully vaccinated individuals coming from either “Green” or “Yellow” List countries/territories/jurisdictions, need to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of their negative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing taken on the fifth (5th) day.”
She warned that airlines will face administrative fines if they fly foreign passengers with no appropriate documents and, the travelers will be sent back to their port of origin.
Travelers found having faulty COVID-19 negative test result or fake vaccination card will be dealt with by the Bureau of Quarantine (BoQ).
Travelers proven by the BoQ to have fake negative test results or COVID vaccination cards may be returned to the BI’s custody for the initiation of deportation proceedings. —LBG, GMA News
