Philippine National Police Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Sunday said early security preparations had been set to ensure the public’s safety during this year’s observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.
“Inaasahan ko ang ating mga chiefs of police ay makikipag-ugnayan ng maaga sa kani-kanilang mga local government units upang pagplanuhan ang mga patakarang ipapatupad sa mga sementeryo, memorial parks at columbarium lalo na at nasa gitna pa tayo ng pandemya,” he said in a statement.
(I expect that our police chiefs will promptly work with their local government units in planning the rules that would be enforced in cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbariums, especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic.)
Eleazar also reminded the public to observe minimum health standards during the observance of Undas this year.
“Nagawa na natin ito noong nakaraang taon kaya’t nasisiguro kong magagampanan ulit nang maayos ng ating kapulisan ang kanilang tungkulin sa panahon ng Undas,” he said.
(We did this last year, so I am sure our police officers will be able to do their duty during All Souls Day.)
Last year, some local government units closed cemeteries on November 1 and 2 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
