Calling someone fat is bullying, Gordon says after Bong Go tirades

Calling someone fat is bullying, Senator Richard Gordon quipped after Senator Bong Go cried foul over allegations linking him to the issues hounding the Department of Budget and Management Procurement Service’s (DBM-PS) purchase of overpriced pandemic supplies.

In an interview on CNN Philippines, Gordon denied anew that he has bullied Go during the Senate investigation into the overpriced PPEs.

“Di ako nambu-bully. Ang  bullying e sasabihin e matapang ka, ikaw ay mataba, lahat sasabihin sa ‘yo na kung ano ano. Kay Ping Lacson ‘yung buhok mo napakapanget. That is bullying. That has nothing to do with the issue. I don’t bully people,” Gordon said, apparently referring to Go’s former boss, President Rodrigo Duterte.

(I am not the one who is bullying someone here. The real bully here was the one who called you are brave, someone fat and someone who call other people with different names. The bully is the one who said Ping Lacson has bad hair. That is bullying. That has nothing to do with the issue. I don’t bully people.)

In his latest public address aired Tuesday morning, Duterte had launched personal attacks on Gordon and Senator Panfilo Lacson.

“Ang advise ko sa iyo, magpapayat ka muna para medyo.. nalilipong ako pag tinitingnan kita p–ang— ‘Wag mo putulin yan ah totoo ‘yan,” he said.

He also commented on Lacson’s hairstyle.

Gordon and Lacson both dismissed Duterte’s ad hominem statements, saying they will focus on the issue at hand.

Moreover, Gordon reiterated that his affiliation with the Philippine Red Cross should not be an issue insofar as his chairmanship of the Senate blue ribbon committee is concerned.

“May problema si Bong Go kasi ginagawa niyang between him and me, dadagdagan niya pa ng Red Cross,” Gordon said.

(Bong Go has a problem. He is making the issue between him and me then he will drag the Red Cross on the issue.)

On Tuesday, Go told Gordon to inhibit himself from inquiries involving the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) due to “conflict of interest.”

“First of all, hindi ko inimbestiga kahit na kailan ang PhilHealth dahil may utang sila sa amin. Ang inimbestiga ko from the very beginning ay ‘yong mga katiwalian na nagaganap na nagbabayad sila ng milyon milyon sa mga taong di dapat nila bayaran,” he explained.

(First of all, I did not investigate PhilHealth because they owe us. We investigated them from the very beginning because they were paying claims that should not be reimbursed.)

He further clarified that he is not earning from the COVID-19 testings being conducted by the Red Cross.

“I don’t see any conflict of interest. I don’t profit from it. The Red Cross doesn’t profit from it,” he said.
