PNP COVID-19 cases climb to 42,231

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday reported that the number of COVID-19 cases among its personnel went up to 42,231 after two new infections were recorded.

Data from the PNP Health Service showed that the total number of active cases is 29.

Recoveries meanwhile stood at 42,077, while the death toll remained at 125.

Chief PNP Police General Dionardo Carlos on Thursday urged personnel not to become complacent despite the “significant improvement” in the COVID-19 situation in the police force.

“This apparent improving trend should not be any cause for complacency among our personnel, because according to health experts, the Philippines is not yet out of the woods,” he said in a statement.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 356 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,836,360.

The DOH said active infections stood at 11,373.

There were 878 new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 2,774,891. Meanwhile, 135 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 50,096. — DVM, GMA News
