Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque said the National Task Force Against COVID-19 has recommended a new schedule for the second round of the nationwide vaccination in areas that will be affected by the looming tropical storm.
On Monday’s Talk to the People presided by President Rodrigo Duterte, Duque said the new dates are on December 20 to 22 from the original schedule of December 15-17.
“Kami ay nag-recommend na ang ating National Vaccination Part 2 ay i-postpone muna dun sa mga dadaanan ng bagyo. From December 15 to 17, we will hold this instead on December 20 to 22,” he said.
The Health chief said they hope the recommendation will be approved by the president as they continue to monitor the weather condition.
The first phase of the vaccination campaign, held from November 29 to December 3 inoculated a total of 9,937,827 individuals nationwide.
The massive drive targets to increase vaccine coverage and mobilize stakeholders from every sector to support the government’s goal of giving Filipinos a safe and healthy Christmas, the DOH said.—LDF, GMA News
