Senator Risa Hontiveros hopes that a united opposition will be formed in time for Eleksyon 2022.
“Umaasa ako na sana kahit hanggang panahon na ng kampanya na may posibilidad, may pag-asa lagi, lalo na kung magkakaisa doon sa pangangailangan na magkaroon ng ibang klase at mas mabuting pag-gogobyerno, yung pag-asa na pwede pa silang o kahit ilan sila na magbuo nyang united front,” Hontiveros said at Pandesal Forum on Monday.
(I still hope that even until the campaign period, there is still a possibility, there is always hope [for a united front], especially if we will unite for the need to have another kind and much better governance. The hope that all or some of them will form a united front.)
The opposition lawmaker said she has been communicating for about two years with Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senator Grace Poe to put up a united front in the upcoming polls.
She also disclosed that she considered Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao in the alliance sought by the opposition.
In October, presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo said she would no longer pursue unity talks with her fellow 2022 presidential aspirants.
To recall, Robredo had initiated the “unity talks” in a bid to form the broadest coalition possible that will go against the administration’s presidential bet.
