Marcos Jr. to Robredo: Tell your supporters to withdraw DQ petition

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday said Vice President Leni Robredo should tell those calling for his disqualification for Eleksyon 2022 to withdraw the petition against him.

“Sabihin niya (Robredo) sa mga kasama niya na i-withdraw (‘yong petition) kung ganoon ang kaniyang opinyon,” Marcos Jr. said during a press briefing.

Marcos Jr. also said he would answer the issues at the right time.

“Pagdating ng panahon, sasagutin pa rin natin at papakita natin na walang grounds para mag-dismiss sa aking kandidatura,” he said.

Robredo earlier denied that her camp was behind the disqualification case filed against Marcos Jr., saying she has beaten the former senator in the last elections without resorting to such moves.

Last week, a group of human rights advocates filed before the Commission on Elections a petition to cancel Marcos Jr.’s certificate of candidacy based on his conviction on four criminal cases violating the Tax Code.

The petitioners argued that the conviction constitutes a crime of moral turpitude and thus, disqualifies Marcos Jr. as provided under the Omnibus Election Law.

Marcos’ camp described the petition as a “nuisance.”

Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy for president on October 6, a day after he took his oath as a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, a political party allied with the Duterte administration.
