CHED achieves COVID-19 herd immunity for employees

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Tuesday bared that it reached the target of herd immunity after it fully vaccinated 93% of its frontline workers against COVID-19.

In a statement, CHED chairperson Prospero De Vera III said 1,198 out of 1,280 employees of the agency completed their vaccination with the help of national government and local government units.

Among the offices with highest vaccination rates are CHED Regional Office 1 with 100%; CHED MIMAROPA with 100%; CHED-Cordillera Administrative Region with 98%; CHED Central Office with 96%; CHED Regional Office III with 96%; and CHED Regional Office 7 with 96%.

“We thank the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for upgrading the classification of education frontliners to A4, the Department of Health (DOH), and the local government units (LGUs) where CHED offices are located for the well-organized, orderly, fast and efficient vaccination process,” De Vera said in a statement.

“We thank Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte for helping us set up vaccination in the CHED Central Office to ensure efficiency and responsiveness to our employee needs. Some of our very own CHED officials and staff helped in administering the COVID-19 vaccines,” he added.

He also said Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro also partnered with CHED to allow employees to be tested in the locality’s facilities.

The remaining unvaccinated employees are still waiting for a schedule from their respective local government units, said De Vera.

To date, the Philippines recorded a total of  2,401,916 COVID-19 cases, including 2,193,700 recoveries and 37,074 deaths.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
