Provincial LGUs back COVID-19 alert level system

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) has expressed its support for the implementation of the COVID-19 Alert Level System (ALS) nationwide.

“We support [the ALS] para maging uniform ang categorization at system natin sa buong bansa, at sa convenience na rin po ‘yan ng ating travelers at ating mga kababayan. Nag-a-adopt naman ang mga LGU,” Quirino Governor and ULAP President Dakila  Cua said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

(We support that [ALS] for a uniform categorization and system throughout the country, and it is also for the convenience of our travelers and our countrymen. The LGUs can adopt to it.)

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday approved the nationwide implementation of the Alert Level System for determining restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under EO 151, the Alert Level System — now in effect in NCR, Region 3, 4A, 6, 7, 10, and 11 — will be gradually implemented in Regions 2, 8 and 12 for Phase 2; Regions 2, 5 and 9 for Phase 3; and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 4B, Region 13, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for Phase 4

“Kasi hindi sabay-sabay ang learning curve at saka ‘yung situation ay ina-assess na rin ng ating experts. Maganda naman ang kinalabasan ng adjustment ng national government,” Cua said.

(The learning curve is not simultaneous and the situation has already been assessed by our experts. The outcome of the national government’s adjustment is good, so far.)

Amid the increasing number of people going to malls and other public places, Cua said reviving the economy is also crucial.

“This is really a balancing act. Tinitingnan din natin ang kabalanse nito which is the vibrancy of our local economy, gusto rin naman nating magkaroon ng mga hanapbuhay para sa ating mga kababayan,” he said, adding that the government is mitigating the effects of the pandemic through its vaccination efforts. —LBG, GMA News
