Liberal Party holds general assembly on Eleksyon 2022 plans

Over 220 delegates of Liberal Party (LP) chapters nationwide attended the party’s online General Assembly for their plans in Eleksyon 2022.

In a statement, LP said its delegates disclosed resolutions on the party’s stand on country’s issues such as human rights, justice system, pandemic response and poverty alleviation.

The draft resolutions on the party’s stand will be endorsed during its National Executive Council Meeting on September 28, 2021.

“Ang lakas ng Partido ay nasa tao, wala sa politiko. Tulad ng sabi ng aming Party President, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, kasama sa pagdedesisyon ang aming mga miyembro,” LP vice president for internal affairs Teddy Baguilat said.

(The party’s strength comes from the consensus of its people not the politicians. As what Senator Pangilinan said, our members will be part of our decision making.)

For his part, Teddy Lopez, LP deputy director general for education and formation said their assembly challenged their members to respond to pressing issues in the country.

“We don’t want to limit the debate on personalities. This is why we involve our members in building the platform,” Lopez said in the same statement.

LP has grown to 163 chapters and organizing committees nationwide with around 16,000 members.

LP has yet to announce its candidates but Vice President Leni Robredo earlier said she still had two weeks to decide on next year’s national and local elections.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, meanwhile, said he would run for president if Robredo fails to decide on the last day of filing of certificate of candidacy which is on October 8.—LDF, GMA News
