At least 14 people were reported dead while seven were missing due to Tropical Storm Jolina, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NCRRMC) said Friday.
In its latest report issued 8 a.m., the NDRRMC said information on one fatality and four missing persons has been confirmed while the report on 13 fatalities and three missing persons is still being validated.
At least 20 persons were reported injured, the NDRRMC said.
It also said it is verifying information regarding three fatalities, three missing persons, and four injured persons in Naro, Masbate.
According to the NDRRMC, one fatality was reported in Buenavista, Marinduque, while in Culaba, Biliran, three fishermen were reported missing.
The NDRRMC also said 12 fishermen were initially reported missing in Catbalogan in Samar, but five of them have been rescued.
A total of 109,680 persons or 28,444 families were affected by Jolina — which reached typhoon category and has since exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility — in Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, and National Capital Region.
At least 9,797 people or 2,580 families were staying in 245 evacuation centers. Around 1,940 individuals or 479 families were taking temporary shelter in the homes and stayed with their relatives and friends.
A total of 6,423 houses were damaged — 6,122 were partially damaged and 301 totally — in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
The NDRRMC said 11 roads and bridges were still not passable, while 143 roads and three bridges that were previously affected are now passable.
Power interruptions were experienced in 35 cities and towns, of which, 13 have been restored, according to the NDRRMC.
Water supply problems were also encountered in five cities and towns. One has been restored.
At least two airports suspended their operations but one has already resumed its activities. Eight domestic flights were canceled but were later rescheduled.
Also according to NDRRMC, 54 seaports suspended their operations while 20 ports in Mimaropa and Western Visayas have already reopened.
Some 200 passengers, 195 rolling cargoes, six vessels, were stranded in Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Cordillera, and Metro Manila, the NDRRMC said.
According to the NDRRMC, around P256,097,695 worth of damage in agriculture was reported in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
For infrastructures, P30,675,253 worth of damage was reported in Mimaropa, Bicol, and Western Visayas, the NDRRMC said.
Although Jolina has already exited PAR, another cyclone — Typhoon Kiko — is threatening Northern Luzon.
As of 8 a.m., Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 was hoisted over Cagayan and Babuyan Islands as Kiko threatens to make landfall over the Cagayan area, state weather bureau PAGASA said. —KBK, GMA News
