The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported on Saturday that more than 4.6 million individuals in the National Capital Region received financial aid amid the enhanced community quarantine.
Interviewed on Super Radyo DZBB, DSWD Assistant Secretary Glenda Relova said as of August 19, the department’s assistance distribution effort in the NCR was 41% complete with 4,643,201 beneficiaries receiving P4,643,201,000 in aid.
Distribution at the province of Iloilo was 72% complete, with 1.9 million individuals receiving a total of P1.9 billion in aid.
Cagayan de Oro was 55% complete with 419,098 individuals given aid, while Gingoog, Misamis City was 57% complete with 121,062 given aid.
In Bataan, 385 families benefited from financial aid, but other municipalities have yet to start their distribution which is set to begin on Monday, August 23.
Metro Manila was placed under the strictest quarantine classification from August 6 to 20 in light of the threat posed by the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant. — DVM, GMA News
