No Isko-Duterte communication after president s tirade vs. unnamed mayor –Manila PIO

There has been no communication between President Rodrigo Duterte and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno since the commander-in-chief’s tirade against an unnamed mayor during his public address, the Manila Public Information Office said on Wednesday.

“No,” the city’s public information officer Julius Leonen told GMA News Online in a phone interview when asked if there had been any communication between the two after Duterte had made disparaging remarks about a government official.

In his weekly public address on Monday, Duterte said he instructed the Interior and Social Welfare departments take over the job of distributing cash aid from a certain local government unit, citing a lack of organization.

“Wala talagang kaalam-alam itong mga mayor na ‘to so tanggalan muna natin itong pamimigay, pagdi-distribute ng pera pati tulong ng gobyerno,” he said.

Duterte did not disclose the LGU he was referring to.

He also lashed out at an official for posing for supposedly risqué photos in his past. Moreno was an actor and model before turning to politics. Leonen, however, pointed out that the President did not name whom he was referring to.

Malacañang on Tuesday denied that Duterte was alluding to Moreno during his rant.

Reacting to Duterte’s allegation of disorganized distribution of cash aid among some LGUs, Leonen said the Manila government will maintain its previous step and efforts in releasing social assistance.

He pointed out that the DILG even recognized the completion of the cash aid payout in the city through a certificate.

“I don’t see anything wrong with the distribution of ayuda,” he said.

In a Facebook live video on Tuesday, Moreno thanked Duterte for the cash aid assistance program for Metro Manila residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine. — BM, GMA News
